David E. Hockman, MD
Dr. Hockman is a Missouri native who completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia and then remained in Columbia to attend medical school at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Kansas-Wichita. Dr. Hockman went on to become a fellow at The Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic and Research Institute in Alexandria, Virginia where he focused on adult reconstructive surgery.
In 2003, the Columbia Orthopaedic Group recruited Dr. Hockman to continue to "define excellence" in hip and knee replacement surgery. Since that time, he has performed over 6,000 primary and revision knee replacements and 1,358 primary and revision hip replacements on patients from across the country. His practice is now exclusively limited to partial, total, and revision knee replacements.
Just as Bach and Handel often signed their musical manuscripts with the initials SDG (Soli Deo Gloria – glory to God alone), what truly matters to Dr. Hockman is glorifying God in the way he treats his patients. Excellent patient care requires an excellent team, and thus Dr. Hockman has Nurse Practitioner Robin and Clinical Assistant Sarah working alongside him, Robin for 15 years and Sarah for 10. Together they focus on meeting patients' needs in a timely fashion with kindness and compassion.
Dr. Hockman and his wife Sherry have three adult children, who will all be in college in 2018. After being a stay-at-home mom for fifteen years, Sherry began Hockman Interiors, a store that began as a 10 by 10 square at the Market Place and grew to occupy 6,000 square feet at the Parkade Plaza. Dr. Hockman currently serves on the board of trustees for Coyote Hill Christian Children's Home. He and Sherry are members at the Crossing and enjoy volunteering with Crossing Kids preschoolers.
